This policy explains what personal information Smith St Hotel, 484 Smith St, Collingwood VIC 3066, operated by SPG Picko Pty Ltd (ABN 49 686 378 709) (“we”, “us”), collects, why, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect, and where from
- When you join Smithy’s Club on our website or at the bar: your name, email, mobile number and, if you give it, your birthday.
- When you buy a ticket to a show at our venue: our ticketing partner (Moshtix, through our promoter Yours & Owls) shares your name, email, mobile number, postcode and the show you booked, and whether you agreed to hear from the venue.
- When you book a table: the details you give our booking system, SevenRooms.
- When you pay at the bar and give your Smithy’s Club number: your purchases and points, held in Square, our point-of-sale system.
- When you email us: whatever you choose to send.
What we use it for
- To run Smithy’s Club: your membership, points and rewards.
- To send you information about a show you have a ticket for: the night, getting here, getting in, and what’s on at the bar.
- To send you our news, gigs, specials and offers, only if you’ve agreed to hear from us. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we act on it straight away.
- To take and manage your bookings, and to answer you when you get in touch.
We don’t sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Only the services we use to do the things above, each of which handles it on our behalf: Square (point of sale and Smithy’s Club), SevenRooms (bookings and our newsletter), Amazon Web Services (sending our emails), our website host, Google Workspace (our email), and Google and Meta for website analytics and advertising (see below). Some of these services may store information outside Australia. We don’t share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.
Our website, cookies and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use this website (for example, which pages are visited and how people arrive here), and the Meta Pixel to measure and improve our advertising on Facebook and Instagram, including showing our ads to people who have visited this website. These tools use cookies and similar technology, and collect information such as your device, browser, the pages you visit and your approximate location. Google and Meta handle that information under their own privacy policies.
We don’t send the details you type into our forms (like your name, email or mobile) to Google or Meta for advertising.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), and change how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
Keeping it safe
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, store it with services that protect it, and limit who can see it. If you unsubscribe from everything, we keep only your email address, so that we never email you again.
Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@smithsthotel.com.au. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, email hello@smithsthotel.com.au and we’ll look into it. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
