  • The Gems – Remedy single launch

The Gems – Remedy single launch

The Gems are so amped to play at the very cool Smith Street Hotel with a killer lineup.

The Gems have been very busy writing and recording new songs that have somewhat seen a stylistic departure from previous years mutating their sounds to unpigeonholeable genres.

Not restricting to certain expectations audiences’ impressions might have had in the past, songwriter Arni Rey Paras has been moving with the times, writing so that no 2 songs sound alike at all, still within the power pop/rock umbrella, adapting to new members’ energetic vibes while still maintaining Line Lindegaard Paras’ charismatic viking bass playing/backing harmony vox feature.

Songs from ballad ish to uptempo catchy melodics to downright nasty riffs they will deliver a truly punchy set

The evening will be opened by the punkesque Anglerr bringing the house down early.

Followed by the handsome group Moth with their girl fronted catchy tunes.

    Come and join the fun!

  • Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice (8th Birthday)

Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice (8th Birthday)

Dr Sure's Unusual Practice celebrate 8 relentless years.

    In November 2018 the then 4-piece kicked off a Tote front bar residency which quickly snowballed out of their control into;

A rabid touring animal: 19 (!) Aus runs, 3 Europe tours, 2 UK tours, a New Zealand tour, an Indo tour…

    Releases out the wazoo: 4 LP's, at least 4 EP's, 2 7"s, a split 7" with Bench Press, a split 10" with Holy Fuck, a live LP, a swag of cassettes…

Stacks of sick support runs: TFS, TISM, King Gizzard, Ty Segall, Cosmic Psychos…

An evolving collective of odd balls: touring as a 5-piece, opening Meredith as an 8-piece, recording at Camp A Low Hum as an 11-piece.

Whether self-releasing/managing/booking, putting out fundraiser tapes or removing all their releases from streaming, Dr Sure's represent a new Australien underground.

Come and celebrate 8 years of Unusual Practice: November 13, Smith St Hotel (FKA Gasometer) with support from Media Puzzle and Salmon Sisters.

    Jacoténe Australia Headline Tour

JACOTÉNÉ announces her first-ever headline tour of Australia this November, marking a major milestone in a breakout year that's seen the Melbourne-born, London-based singer-songwriter land an ARIA nomination for Why'd You Do That? and a nomination for the ELLE Next Generation Award for Music.

“This is a really full-circle moment for me,” says JACOTÉNÉ. “I get to bring the show I've been building overseas back to Australia and do it as my own headline run for the first time. I can't wait to be in a room with everyone and sing these songs together.”

JACOTÉNÉ's sound draws on soul, alt-R&B and jazz, shaped by a childhood spent singing in church choirs and the influence of artists like Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. Backed by her band, this live show will carry a rawness and presence that studio recordings only hint at.

The tour will hit Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, giving Australian audiences their first chance to see her headline a stage of her own. Tickets on sale now.
